Welcome to the OpenCon community. With the annual events at the core, OpenCon supports a dynamic, diverse, and growing community that works year round to advance Open Access, Open Education and Open Data. The OpenCon community is open to anyone—not just those who have attended the main conference or a satellite event. Together, we can and are build a conference and, more importantly, a community that makes a difference.
Join our regular community calls to keep up to date with the work being done around the world to advance Open Access, Open Data, and Open Education.
Attend an Event
While the global event is application only, satellite event hosts bring OpenCon to you. See if there is an event near you, or step up with our support to bring OpenCon to you.
Whenever you need input, a helping hand or a signal boost you can find what you need on #OpenCon. Twitter is where the OpenCon community is most active, so we’ll see you there.
Join us at Temple University for OpenCon Philly, a free one-day series of panels and interactive workshops for idea exchange and learning around open access, open education, and open data. Connect with regional colleagues and find future collaborators as we share success stories, learn from each other’s failures, and discuss challenges in our work towards making research, educational materials, data, and government information more equitable and accessible to all. This event is free and open to all.
RSVP to stay in the loop and be notified of the call for presentations! Please note that an RSVP is not registration; a registration form will be forthcoming closer to the event.
The Call for Papers is now open!
We welcome submissions from students, practitioners, affiliated and independent researchers, those working for nonprofits, in civic tech, K-12, public libraries, and other community members. Proposals with representative and inclusive speaker involvement will be favored by the committee.
Proposals are due by midnight on July 26, 2019.
